Since 1924 the surrealists, influenced by the newborn then studies of S. Freud on psychoanalysis and dream interpretation, attempted to search their thematology and their inspiration from the world of the subconscious.
The dream where the subconscious develops and is expressed with the minimal intervention of logic, was the inspiration for them, enriching the arts in general (painting, sculpture, poetry, literature, theater, cinema) with artworks that once were, and sometimes not with a logical explanation and had a common denominator: Were consisted of elements, seemingly disconnected, in a similar way where elements appeal in the dreams.
A dream -a surrealist work- is potentially explainable, but never absolute. it is accepted though, what we call "correct interpretation" to be more than one.
